left shoe stay, right shoe..get lunch!

that's a brave left shoe surviving the hot parking lot. I'm sure it's more comfortable than the foot that lost it.

2 pair by the stream

i came upon these while hiking streamside in Sedona AZ. Now, I know they're not anywhere near a street, but I felt they deserved a spot here. I'm sure there was a naked couple around somewhere..but I never saw them.

a rare pair

it looks like the shoes obeyed the stop sign regardless of the feet that walked in them. It was another sad departure.

i just can't take it anymore

i've given up hope.

How it all began...

I have this curiosity about how a single shoe winds up in the middle of the road in the most random of places. I can't help but wonder how it came to be there. I've shared this curiosity of mine with several friends and asked for their thoughts about how this happens. Funny, the theories they've come up with when considering my question.

One of my friends said, "Maybe it happens when two people in a vehicle are arguing, and one of them pulls their shoe off to whap the other one with it. and in the scuffle, the shoes winds up flying out the window."

WHAT?? Does this really happen.

I'm still puzzled and entertained with the thoughts about how these lone shoes made it there. I wrote a haiku about it, it's one of my favorite haikus.

I will be posting my photos of sad abandoned shoes here and writing a bit about my story for them.

If you by chance snap a photo of this not so rare species of shoe, please feel free to send it my way.

Sincerely,
j.rae
